July 1998 Mark Parenteau and Meat Loaf

Q104.3 had been a Classic Rock station for about 18 months when I got there in April of 1998.  The station was going through changes and one of those was importing Mark Parenteau from WBCN in Boston to do afternoons.

I had known Mark from my time in Boston, and he’d even been on my show at Emerson’s WERS, a few times.

Meat Loaf was at the station promoting his upcoming VH1 Storyteller’s appearance.  This image, shot on 35mm film was an outtake of the “official” shot that made it to Q1043.com.  As you will see from other shots in this series, trying to get Mark to “be serious” was a fools errand.

Ignore the timestamp on the photo, the internal clock on the camera was not working properly that day.

In May of 1998, I had just started at WAXQ-FM, Q104.3 in New York.  We did a 13 hour broadcast to celebrate the finale of the TV Show Seinfeld.

I know I have more pictures of this day, but this is the only one I can locate now.  Shot on 35mm film, the picture is of former Q104.3 Marketing Director Paul Miraldi, former Event Coordinator Brian Lopez and Len Lesser who played Uncle Leo on Seinfeld.

It was a hectic day and this image captures a short break in the action because Uncle Leo was one of Brian’s favorite characters.  Paul wanted us to move along and get back to work.
