Traffic Co-Founder Dave Mason came up to talk to Ken Dashow and play a little. He was pushing some dates in Jersey.

We also had some audio from this session and posted the interview and song to Q1043.com then.  The phrase "podcast" wasn't invented yet (because the iPod was still an idea in a notebook in Northern California), and not too many stations were posting this kind of stuff.  We'd like to think we were pioneer-ish.

If you are wondering, this image was shot during Dave's performance of his 70s hit "We Just Disagree."

Shot with a Nikon E950.

November 3 & 4, 2000 - The Radio Music Awards Part I

Aside from the main theater, music, film and tv academies, award shows are really just a chance for stars to get adulation, TV producers to sell products and radio people to interview as many artists in one place as possible.

These functions have an event called “Radio Row” which is similar to the first week of college when all the clubs and greek organizations want you to join them.

In 2000 and 2001, ABC TV and Premier Radio Network put on an award show that was supposed to celebrate radio, The Radio Music Awards.  Not a lot people watched the show, but for those stations who paid to be nominated, it was a trip to Las Vegas for two days of boradcasts.

My job was to shoot stills of the interviews and re-cap what we did for Q1043.com.   Everything here was shot on a Sony digital camera.

Below, Tina Yothers.  Tina, who played Jennifer on Family Ties, had recently put together a band called Jaded and was plugging her new record.

Ian Anderson, founder of Jethro Tull makes another appearance here.   This time he brought his flute and did a little performance, complete with with a little track box.

The second picture from this set is the typical “pose in front of the logo wall.”   Of course, if one poses with Ian Anderson, one has to pretend to play a flute and raise one’s leg.

HBO’s Sex & The City was at it’s height of popularity at the beginning of the century.  Q104.3’s Maria Milito was hosting a charity event and Kristin Davis was there as well.

I can’t remember what the name of the charity was.  Taken with a better Sony digital camera.

In July of 1999, Pete Townshend played the legendary Supper Club as a benefit for his new album, Pete Townshend Live: A Benefit for the Maryville Academy.

Townshend stopped by Q104.3 to talk about the album, then went uptown to play The Late Show With David Letterman (where Eddie Vedder joined him).

After Letterman, Townshend and Vedder came to play the supper club.  I did not shoot that historic night, however.
