Welcome to a new Radio Free Jersey / RDM Project.
Re-started and re-posted to start 10.15.17
I believe I was in third or fourth grade when my parents gave me my first camera; a Kodak C-120. Over the years, I have upgraded cameras and experimented with photography as something to do on the side of whatever I was focusing on at the time.
21 years ago, my radio and digital lives merged into one and I began capturing images from the stations I’ve worked at, or concerts I have been fortunate to cover. Over last six months, I have been pouring through the catalog of pictures I have with me in Georgia. The images you will see, daily, cover the last 20 years. As I discover more, I will add them.
What you will see are pictures of the “famous” people who I’ve intersected with during my career to date. Sure, some of these will be staged shots in front of step and repeats, but the majority are candid moments I captured and in many cases, these have not been published previously.
Many of the images presented will have a brief story, to the best of my recollection. Call this a live memoir of sorts.
Using the Spagnardi Brothers rule of lists, these images will be presented, in most cases, in chronological order - based on somewhat meticulous notes. 99% of them will not be me with the artist, since most of these were shot before the advent of the common "selfie." For a particular event, there may be multiple shots for that post.

We start with an a picture of horrible quality, and as of now, the only image I have here, from my time at WZLX-FM in Boston. In those early internet days, we spent more time capturing audio than images. This was shot with a Sony digital camera, of which I cannot recall the model number.
This is the late, great George Taylor Morris, who was the APD of the station at the time, with David Gans. David is the host of the long running national program, The Grateful Dead Hour and Tales from The Golden Road on Sirius XM.
Less than two years after the passing of Jerry Garcia, I was fortunate to become somewhat friendly with David and he made a trip east, plugging the show and his first solo album. In the background you can see my good friend, and former roommate Scott Lucas. Scott was also a DJ at WZLX-FM. When we were not working, our house in Everett was often filled with the sounds of The Dead.
George was a friend and mentor and this picture captures a high point of my early career.
